UE.co is proud to partner with the Special Olympics of Southern California as apart of our “UE Gives Back” initiative. In 2018, UE.co employees spent 212 hours volunteering at Special Olympics competitions and practices. These opportunities to empower the athletes and be apart of the action by running skills camps, organizing events, and cheering on games, are some of our team’s favorite moments together. One of our own, Sean Smoogen, is even a Coach for the Special Olympics.
To build excitement for 2019’s involvement, two Special Olympics Athletes, Chris, and Thomas paid a visit to the UE.co Headquarters to share their experiences during a “Fireside Chat” with the entire company. The two have been on the same floor hockey team for 10 years and showed off their Bronze Medals awarded at the Special Olympics World Games in Austria.
At the end of the meeting, UE.co CEO Jason Kulpa presented a (giant) check for $25,000 to Regional Director Brian Richter as UE.co’s 2019 commitment to the Special Olympics of Southern California, a 25% increase from 2018.
“The Special Olympics Southern California Division is important to UE.co because of the deep impact these athletes have on our team,” said Jason Kulpa. “The chance to be a part of their mission impacts our team in the best way possible, and the athletes know how to put the biggest smiles on our faces.”
Jason chose the donation amount based on our employee engagement, as 25 of our employees were involved with the Special Olympics last year. UE.co is committed to serving the San Diego community, and philanthropy is at the core of the entire company.
